Teaching about extremist political groups

Postby Billy Crombie » Tue May 05, 2009 9:32 am

Hi all,

I'm developing some advice for the Cit Foundation on teaching about extremist political groups (such as the BNP) but am struggling to find examples of teachers / schools who do tackle these issues directly in the classroom and what strategies they use.

Does anyone out there have any experience of this? and is happy to have a chat with me (or post some ideas up here).

What challenges do you face teaching about the BNP?
Are you aware of laws that support your teaching of extremist political groups?
How do you promote rational open debate?
Does your school / college have policies that support you?

Please feel free to get hold of me - 0751761693
